My mother collected amber daisy and button Early American Patterned glass pieces. She used them for holiday dinners and displayed them, so got enjoyment out of her collection. I don't know if she thought they'd go up in value.

I'm probably going to start selling some of the pieces soon, but don't expect a lot for them at all.

I'm not. Just noting that not all FM items are losers but wouldn't buy new.

More than once I have replied to something at the bottom of the page, and then find that I was on page 1 of 2. So, FYI, King, this is what I was referring to.

I have some of my grandmother's tea cup collection here. I am conflicted as to if I should sell them or not only because she adored them. She is long gone and I have had them here in a china cabinet for years since her passing. Maybe it is time to thin out that part of the china cabinet now if I can muster my courage.

My daughter teaches 4th grade in a very poor, rural district in southern Ohio (Perry County). She and the other 4th grade teacher do a store twice a year for their students. The kids earn Glenford Bucks by getting good grades and by being good citizens. We have donated many stuffed animals and other things to their store. The kids love to find things they can buy for moms and dads. It's been a good place to donate some of those collectibles we have accumulated from auctions and the kids get to shop.

Now, for a real question. HELP PLEASE! It is in a few ways relevant to the subject of this entire thread. I may or may not take your advice, but really will very much appreciate your opinion.

I was quickly scanning ebay and found an ongoing auction with something that interested me. Did some research in six of the books that I thought would have it pictured. COULD NOT FIND IT. Went on a three of my standard research sites and NOT THERE. So I may be on the verge of dementia, but this one really, really got to me. WHERE THE HE11 IS IT?

I took a break. Then another one. Actually sent a message to the seller. And he actually responded. Though I have a feeling he is not at all reliable, maybe not, perhaps doesn't speak English well, OR is just a plain old fashioned LIAR concerning condition. Can't really tell with the pics.

Bottom line, when he responded he had slightly revised the title.

    BANG!!!!

I found the dam thing in 10 seconds. In my own personal files. I sold a duplicate on eBay 4 years ago. (KEEP THE 4 IN MIND when responding.) His listing is auction. Has one bid, does not mention watchers. 3 days to go. Current price is $15. I had put mine up BIN only. Took 11 days to sell, with a price of $425.00.

The reason I could not find it anywhere is because, close your eyes Komo, it is very rare and does exist in one book only where the average collector never thinks to look.

I ONLY bid through ESnipe. Helps a lot. Choose my price, set it and literally do not look until I'm advised whether or not I won.

    QUESTION

    How much?

If I win, it goes back on eBay.

That's how I feel about a lot of my mother's things. Lots of mixed feelings from it.

Sorry, folks. No link. I'm asking only for advice on comparing current value to X years ago. The item is glass which was previously discussed. To be more explicit about values I will add to the recent comments on Vallerysthal.

Displayed in my house right now are four pieces of Vallerysthal. All from same mould. Four different colors. All made C1900. Vallerysthal Elephant with Rider.
I paid $800 for one that has an interior chip. It's dark blue. Forgot, but about $600 for the white one and maybe 7 or 8 for the light blue one. All have painted trim - mostly gold - as you will see on 90% of those up for sale. I paid $1,500 at auction for the unpainted and rarer caramel one. All of the ones you will now find on eBay are selling in the $100 to maybe $150 range.

    Sorry for the confusion.

So, the question is... OldGuy, could it be the one you sold four years ago come back again onto eBay?

And please could we all take a look? Pretty please?
