Popped into the GW two days ago and just as I was leaving they were putting this clock out for $17.99, with tax let's just say $20. I have sort of a mental check list when I decide to get something or not. Typically I try to shy away from items that are: Heavy, electronic, or broken and this clock was all three. But it was pretty cool looking, so grabbed it anyway on my way out, thinking I could always return it for credit if my impulse purchase was a mistake. I'm not sure what the metal is, but I think it weighs close to 8lbs. Also I can't begin to sort out just how broken this is or not. Thrift has a 7 day return policy, so I guess I'm asking for opinions whether this should be a keeper or a return. No question about age. And there are a many many clocks online by this maker, but couldn't find similar. It's beautiful in a way, but what do you think? Also any idea what metal plate on the face is about? I'm wondering whether it potentially worth my time (say, over $100) in value as in the end it would be a resale item.
