I took a picture of it when we unrolled it for the guy to look at - it was clean & pretty. I wish I'd taken a clearer photo than the one sent to me from seller's phone to post here; I may have asked more - but with no where to keep it except in my van + doubling my money in 2-3 days, I can't complain.
    Thanks again!
PS - photo is in sunlight, but if you lifted a side so it wasn't in complete sunlight the carpet got darker; like right side in pic that's in more shade - I didn't know they changed colors like that

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to you directly.
    I feel I did u a disservice .
Now that I see this rug .........it's stunning !!
I was too quick and not investigative enuf to see that it was indeed hand made, had the size, and the cleaning, and the faux leather backing edge trim and the story that came with it , that should have caused me to give it a more critical look.

That fringe bothered me & should have been enuf for me to investigate further....but I did not.

Now seeing the rug..and hearing you comment on the change in shade...not color, leads me to two distinct possibilities....both of which I can not confirm still, but only to state that either the wool is of excellent fine quality so that it would shimmer in the sunlight......or it's partly ..or all silk.

I did not have this information earlier......so I can't shoulder all the responsibility....but I should have been more closely invested in helping to identify this brilliant carpet........and for that...I'm sorry !!!

None of us had some very important information. We can only give advice based on what we can see in the photos. And sometimes a quick sale seems more important than thorough research. :(

It's a 100% machine made. If you look closely at the underside, you'll see that the weaving and knots are perfectly uniform. You never see that on a handmade rug.

I looked...& I changed my mind......as I see things that I believe show hand making..

I think one of the factors may be the fibers. If it was in fact a silk pile, the knots may lie more evenly on the back side in contrast to fluffier wool fibers. I have not had the opportunity to examine many silk rugs, and the ones I have seen were not nearly so large.

my Chinese 80 line all silk rugs...below..
I know it's not the exact same thing ...& they need a cleaning....but still, in the light..they shimmers and change tone.

I once stood in front of a wall mounted persian silk...but at $11,000...the guy would not let me touch it !!

notice how the tone changed in the light and shadow....
