What does the other side of that section looks like? Have you got a picture of it?

BTW - a Tabriz is normally a much finer weave than this rug appears to be.

It looks like first photo of it rolled up; that's the back
The tabriz was wriitten by rug cleaning co. the other carpets had owner's name, size etc.. but none had anything on other side of tag except this one which is why I was hoping it was a tabriz.

I've seen that edging added to stop rug creep.

It's when your rugs creep across the floor at night. You wake up in the morning covered in rugs. ;););););)

Take another photo of that section from the back side, same scale so that we can enlarge it on screen like this one, ok?
We need to see the construction at the end at the back. At the moment I'm leaning towards it might be handmade but still not positive.

blooey here ya go; both sides of same corner (it's actually all I can get to until I get some help to get it out of my van - it is large and Heavy(!)
Thank you for any info (and for thoughts of being glad it's in the van and tied into a roll so I don't have to worry about it rug creeping across my floor tonight!)

    i'm thinking machine made..

This one is machine made so definitely not a real persian hand made Tabriz and definitely not antique / semi antique nor vintage. Not worth more than a used ikea rug

I agree. The foundation warp and weft are quite prominent/visible on the back, which usually indicates a machine woven rug. Compare to the back that komo showed, where the foundation is well covered.

Sold the carpet today to a guy from Iraq who owns a couple of clothing stores & buys and sells carpets as a hobby/side business (it must be good; he came in a new Mercedes! ) who saw the listing on FB. I told him I wasn't sure if it was handmade & he told me it was.
Maybe photos didn't show clearly? He had 2 others in his trunk & spoke with his partner after we unrolled it & he sent him photos (it was in excellent condition & clean!) and they wanted it/bought it.
I only asked $350 but it's still double + the $150 I paid, and I have room in my van again!

That's a great result, well done.

We've sold a few similarly large Persian, Indian and North African carpets here in Germany recently and never been able to get much more than 100 €, for smaller carpets often much less. The bottom dropped out of what had been a very large market some years ago, but there are one or two specialists -- like your buyer -- who have an eye for a nice traditional design and know they can find a home for it.

Around half of our carpets have/had 'anti-creep' strips of the kind you showed, BTW.
