Now that is interesting! No, I didn't know that. Those presidents assassinated were Garfield & McKinley - how sad for Robert Lincoln. The story is that Robert was on leave at the White House that night. He didn't go to the theater with his parents because he was visiting with a good friend. For the rest of his life he regretted not going to the theater because he would have been sitting behind his father. In that position, John Wilkes Booth would have had to deal with him before getting to his father.

    Hi,
I met Lincoln's great grandchildren a boy and a girl. Neither married they lived in Vermont at Hildene. I was a kid at the time and so their great grandparents did not
mean anything at the time. A few days later my Gram told me that they related to Lincoln. I remember them as being very lively and the house was a mess. When I returned to visit Hildene in the 70s it had been turned into a museum and the house was "cleaned up".

Oh, how interesting - Hildene, the summer home of their grandfather!!!

They were Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith and Mary Lincoln "Peggy" Beckwith. Their mother was a daughter of Robert Todd Lincoln.

Both of them are dead now. Peggy never married, but Robert married 2 times. He had no children with his 1st wife. While in the midst of a divorce from his 2nd wife, the 2nd wife had a baby boy. She claimed it was Robert's. He said it was not his saying he had a vasectomy years before. He was divorcing her on grounds of adultery. The judge ordered a blood test of the child. The woman didn't comply with the order. The divorce court ruled that Beckwith was not the father according to the following in Wiki...

    Hi Susan,
Thank you for the clarification on the grandson. I was not aware that he married.
