He was a mechanic for KLM from 1934 when he flew to Curaçao from Den Haag to work on the SNIP Fokker aircraft that landed there Dec 1934. Dad was stationed in Curaçao until the war broke out in 1940, Holland was overrun by Hitler in May, and he was drafted (or volunteered) into the Netherlands Royal Air Force and was shipped to the US to maintain aircraft that the Dutch were going to be flying...
