    The answer is 'brass breast massager'.

    Chilled with ice water, they would be applied to relieve the symptoms of 'overheating of the blood' or 'inappropriate ardour' so often noted in young women. These seem the 14 to 18 year old size.

    When I was Chaplain of St Ethelfrieda's Boarding and Grammar School for Young Ladies, it was my sad duty to check for and treat any such symptoms among the gels. After some experiments I found that omitting the ice water improved the reception of the treatment, and finally, that omitting the brass gadgets was the most effective of all.

    Luckily medical thought has moved on a bit and now 'overexcitablity in women' is no longer frowned on. see Lady GaGa and Miley Cyrus.

    LOL! ...... reminds me of the movie Hysteria but the focus was a bit lower. Funny and entertaining movie if you have not seen it.
