Featured What is this, and how old might it be?

    This one doesn't have veneer, the sides and top are solid. All the decorative work is on interior surfaces.

    If it were mine I would send info to Sotheby's at the following link and see if they respond. You are under no obligation to sell it and if they have an auction estimate of $5000.00 or more they are supposed to respond to you. I do indeed believe you have a valuable item and you should have it properly insured.     This is correct, Ditto Christie's , will do the same. They both have a 5k limit for a single object to keep the riff raff down. I'd send photos, description to both, they have a link on their website for them to look at objects they can sell.
