It's known as dill weed in cooking to distinguish from dill weed. ;)

Bastard slugs got mine this year.

Have I said how much I hate bastard slugs?

‘Queen Anne’s lace is said to have been named after Queen Anne of England, who was an expert lace maker. Legend has it that when pricked with a needle, a single drop of blood fell from her finger onto the lace, leaving the dark purple floret found in the flower’s center.

Queen Anne (1665–1714) was the last of the Stuart monarchs, remembered for achieving the union of England and Scotland in 1707 and for bringing the War of the Spanish Succession to a conclusion.

At 7.30am on 1 August 1714, Anne passed away, worn out physically and mentally. One of her doctors wrote: “Sleep was never more welcome to a weary traveller than death was to her.”

At the time of her death, Anne had grown so vast that she had to be placed in a square-shaped coffin, before being carried (once again) to Westminster Abbey and buried next to her faithful husband. The Stuart line ended, and George I became the first Hanoverian king’

    A square coffin??……….:jawdrop:

Love love love picking! I haven't been able to do it in over a year now...danggggg... I bet the little coin purse is sterling :)

Love the necklaces! Hate the under carat stuff, when I see this it is usually on pieces out of Thailand - harem rings are especially prone to being marked 18 & 14K and testing out at 8 or 9K...I had to quit buying them, though people love buying them...lol

    Nice haul!

Is it possible that the beads are Bakelite?

Could be although they feel more modern. I will test them. I did think they had similarities to cherry Amber but didn’t follow it up. I’ll have another look.

I’m an amateur gold tester so not always sure I am able to be accurate but this held firm at 9ct for clasp and spacers. The mark was pretty faint after 2-3 minutes with 14ct acid.
Tbh though the lady had a huge box of jewellery and she said I could have the whole lot plus all that was on her table for £25. That included the lapis, the scarab, the cufflinks, the red prayer beads and some little carved coral bits which easily cover my outlay and then this lot which is about 12kg and loads of semi precious gemstone necklaces.Even under carat the lapis is a happy find although I will be wary of anything marked as such so thanks for the heads up!

This is the costume modern stuff in my out box!

This is one bag of the nicer necklaces or beads from the box.

I adore Turquoise pieces and that ring I would wear any day of the week. The Scarab Beetle is so interesting, as long as it doesn't come alive like in THE MUMMY!

One thought. I've seen quite a few Scandi pieces with that dill head motif.

I love the lapis! Methinks me sees some black freshwater pearls in that pile.
