[QUOTE="Cereus17, post: 9829783, member: 84316"]Hi, I just received a bunch of old stuffed toys and baby dolls from a friend who used to collect them. (Actually, she’s an artist and she collected them only to use in her strange stop-motion animation vids.) Unfortunately, she stored them in a shed, so many of them are in rough shape. I hope to post several of the toys in the forum over the next few days This is not my kind of thing at all at all. Hopefully, there are some knowledgeable toy collectors who here can help me to identify their makers and their approximate periods of production, etc. Here's the first one: an organ grinder's monkey - I think. I searched this on Google Lens, and found lots of similarly dressed monkeys - especially by Shuco - but nothing with the same face. This measures about 10 inches long. It has a felt costume sewn over a tin body. The limbs are stuffed with straw. (If the costume is original it clearly had a very clumsy repair - probably by some clumsy kid.) This must have been a wind-up toy. I can feel tin cogs moving when I move the limbs. Maybe it was holding cymbals? Thanks in advance for any info!
