They lived in Newton so I'm guessing this would have been Nantasket Beach. That was the go-to beach for the greater Boston area back then. I never even thought about Plymouth Rock because, of course, today it's unapproachable and about half the size it is here.

The late music teacher at our local high school for decades was Wampanoag. He drove a sports car with a bumper sticker that said Custer Had It Coming. He was one of the leaders of the Thanksgiving protest every year when the tribe went to Plymouth and poured sand on the rock.

Interesting! I didn't realize there were any still carrying the tribal or confederacy name of Wampanoag or Massasoit - Squanto's tribe. I knew the Narragansetts had federal recognition and were still very active especially with their casinos and the Pequots with Foxwoods in CT. Terrible what happened to the Woamoanoag with so very many of them dying from such introduced diseases such as smallpox, a high percentage killed in the King Phillip's War, and believe many of them were enslaved.

The Wampanoags only recently received recognition. They are very active in the Upper Cape - Mashpee area. The Gay Head tribe on Martha's Vineyard finally got the name changed back to Aquinnah.

I agree, plus it's better to lose one at a time than the whole lot, especially because they can at the least serve as movie props. Sell in one at a time created a whole lot, thereby generating individual worth (or worthlessness), but one rare photo beats out none at all come trash day

Keep the photos together. It took someone (or several someones) many years to compile this photographical history of treasured memories and it would be a shame to scatter them to the four corners of the world. IMHO.

I'd leave it in one piece too. It's too bad there aren't any family around who'd want it.
