The history of the Cordey name is rather convoluted and I'm not sure anyone understands it very well. (See Lehrner's Encyclopedia of U.S. Marks on Pottery, Porcelain, & Clay). And the products of the companies using the Cordey name are not well documented. As a result, unless it's marked Cordey I don't think you'll ever get a firm answer. As cluttered noted, it is in the style referred to as Cordey and that may be the closest you can get to a firm attribution. Even stickers aren't totally reliable as anyone can get a roll of them printed up. Just ask the glass people.

I would guess if you went back to the auctioneer and asked him/her how they know the lamp is by Cordey they would say because they've seen other lamps sold with that attribution. Not the best of worlds but when documentation is lacking sometimes "in the style of" is the best anyone could do. I'm not usually a fan of Cordey style lamps. To me they are a little gaudy. But your lamp has a very classic shape and the applied florals don't overwhelm. I think it's quite lovely.

Don
