It was a guess. It's still not unproven.

Don't worry, your piece is Italian. The clay is italian. Possibly Bitossi himself, doubtful though. Aldo Londi might've done it. He headed Bitossi for a while... It's still valuable. Like $100

Your piece is a more modern bitossi, possibly meant to identify with Rimini blue. Here's an article about how to tell the difference. No one wants a fake.
http://www.thevintagepost.com/bitossi-modern-vintage-tell-the-difference-aldo-londi/ Aldo Londi probably did this. It could be a catalogue not exactly fake since no artist is listed. I'm leaning toward modern import but not disproven genuine, the article told all by Trish Hunter. Lets hope the magic marker gives us an idea. I'm sure it's Londi though. For obvious reasons it can't be Raymoor. He just....well what was he thinking.

I'll tell you what I'll do, because I didn't like how you came off, either. I can appreciate expert advice if you can accept my modern catalogue reproduction. But I'm emailing museums as I'm notorious for because I remain confident it's genuine Aldo Londi or busted. My slogan is "busted or trusted" and I'm saying at least$100 for her bowl, not in dispute nor favor with your identification because I'm certain that would've been a stamp not just used by bitossi.. I'm emailing them now bc I'm excited about these things and not because I'm mad. But I'm not an enemy to be riduculed because it could be a learners pot that sold premium.

Bear in mind, Cheryl, please, I will never use an erroneous source, like this advertised Londi picture which agreed with my conclusion.

I absolutely love your source of information for authoritative facts- "Danish Ceramic Vase by Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramiche". How can there be so many errors packed into a single sentence. The vase isn't Danish. It was made in the city of Montelupo Fiorentino in Italy, approximately 1,182 miles from Copenhagen. Londi was creative director at Bitossi from 1946 and later promoted to Director of Manufacturing. He approved all the design produced by Bitossi but did not create all the designs. He had a full design staff plus he commissioned outside artists such as Sottsass, Zanini and Fornasetti. It therefore becomes difficult to establish which pieces were designed exclusively by Londi and which were designed by others.
Ceramiche translate into English as Ceramics not "Family"
Your claim that you can buy this bowl at "Hobby Lobby" or somewhere other than on the secondary vintage market wreaks of false bravado and simply is not true.

Yes, after that I was determined because I read another post by Walter about how identifying a Bitossi will no longer be his agenda on that site. I don't blame him. All it ever took was an italy stamp and the company reproduces a lot of works. I'm not knocking experts but I can never count on just one, especially when they agree: Bitossi was too easy

In the very first sentence of my first post I noted that: 'By the manner of the marking, an Impressed "Italy" inside a lozenge shaped cartouche, I would say that this is probably an unmarked Bitossi piece. It has the detail and quality that defines this Montelupo Fiorentini based company." I did not choose the word "probably" arbitrarily. Over the years I have been fooled enough times by fakes and reproductions to fill at least one or two shelves in any display case. As a matter of fact I have saved most of my mis-attributed pieces for personal study and comparison. They serve both as tools for learning and as humbling reminders of my own vulnerability.

Walter you have always been the most reasoned, open, thoughtful and well researched voice and advocate for Italian ceramics anyone could ask for. :)

I cannot find the words that fully express my gratitude for your kindness. It is, I feel, praise beyond my worth but I will treasure the sentiment as a wonderful gift. Thank you. And thank all of you who have added your comments to this discussion.

No one is infallible, but some are fallible much less often than most because they have put in time and effort to gain knowledge; hence someone whose knowledge I would trust. Walter is someone like that and I trust his knowledge.

ScareBear, your posts appear more confrontational than explanatory, and are unclear and difficult to understand.

Sir? They're not. You were confrontational. Twice now. I can buy that stamp at Hobby Lobby and that clay...faking an easy Bitossi would be guaranteed return. I'd do it 278234 times too.

I'm done here. The last chick you did this to said what I did: A stamp like that is just a rectangle with the word Italy. But I concluded probable Londi or replica. Unless you markered the piece and are trying to screw with nobody but yourself like you just did. If you'll stop adoring me for more than 24 hours I can get back to telling the truth. It could be Bitossi, but I don't do Ouija Boards.

ScareBear, cool it otherwise your posts will be removed and you could be banned, no further notice will be given.
