This creates obvious problems with viewing the progress of the painting, and it&#039;s colors correctly. It&#039;s not something I would expect a professional to do. It&#039;s also possible they traced the sketch/photo/image using this method, and then reversed it for the painting. </p><p><br /></p><p>You do see sketches on the backs of art occasionally. Artists will reuse materials, paint over them, flip them over, etc. I once opened up a frame to find the noted painter had sketched out a completely different idea on the back. Always a fun surprise.
