    So very sad.
    There are still members of the extended Fresco family in the Netherlands. I guess both they and the Turkish Frescos are descendants of Sephardic Jews, possibly by way of Italy.
    Sephardim went to both the Low Countries and the Ottoman empire after they were forced to leave first Spain and then Portugal. Another sad story, but they generally did well in their new countries.

    A lot of Dutch Jews booked it for the New World early on. There may be some Frescos here too.
