They are shaped to facilitate the shape of a necklace or bracelet. The beads could have been exported to India of course.</p><p>As I said, fashion/costume is not my area of expertise, which means I don&#039;t research Chinese costume beads, but I suspect those amber coloured beads are man made. Possibly phenolic resin, much like Bakelite.</p><p><br /></p><p>As for the brown beads, it is difficult to see detail on the photo, but maybe they are coconut?
