    That wasn't the name I was trying to remember. But perhaps the same shade?

    Apparently, the blue of Mary's robes was taken from the blue used to identify Byzantine royalty. That's all I got.

    Lapis would make sense; it's what the Egyptians used and no use reinventing any wheels you don't need to.

    Thanks! I think it was the lapis lazuli/ultramarine. Although unless my memory comes back strongly, I'll never know for sure!
