The prices where you are Brad are a far cry from here on LI.
I don't really look at furniture much except at a thrift store. And I can tell you that those pieces would never have prices like yours here. The prices are much higher here, for better or worse.

They are cheap as chips here as well,Pearls. There was a mahogany dining room set (hutch,table,4 chairs) at the goodwill last week for $70 total. 1940s,traditional style,in impeccable condition. I saw a young couple looking at the hutch, and I pointed out to them there was a matching table and chairs and they were thrilled . They bought it too. Made my heart sing to see young folks into stuff like that. I can pick up victorian chairs all day long here for $5-10 . I paid $10 each for the two I have.

Johnny if only the thrifts near here would follow having lower prices, more merch would move. Not only furniture but all manner of things.
It was great of you to help out that couple. We need more people like you.

Hoodwill is down right stupid on most of their pricing, but furniture is one thing they dont seem to care about. More than once Ive told someone what theyve got and they always seem tickled. Not long ago I told a lady that the 2 large bowls she had were in fact 800 silver. Thru gritted teeth I might add, since I was consumed with envy ! :) I am always glad to talk antiques with people since absolutely none of my friends or family are into any of that.

Lucky stiff, to see silver in an Ill Will even if someone else got to it first. I'm lucky to find silverplate. I don't buy it mind, but once in a while it turns up. (always Rogers Brothers or Oneida, and modern)

The ReStore sells furniture at decent prices here; the Ill Will barely carries any. They do however put reseller-unfriendly prices on the "good" stuff, and any really fine art etc goes to auction or the higher-end store in a different county.

The last glory score i got at Hellwill was about a week before the Covid apocalypse hit & everything closed. My tiny local GW satellite never reopened-the store where i actually found stuff .
PS-Act of God that real silver appeared at GW.That gal had a cosmic-load of good karma.

The only time anything worth buying shows up here it's a: something difficult to ship b: a big mistake or c: both at once. I don't even see baskets not made in China very often. Once in a while some Waterford surfaces, but often it's chipped and not "worthy" of Shopgoodwill. The damaged stuff goes to the stores.

The Eames would've have lasted about 3 seconds here.I'd love it if my astral body could pick in the Midwest while my body stayed in Oregon-drat !

Only things worth photographing this week. These chairs are old as dirt (circa 1870 I would say) and in pretty good condition. Only $3.00 each! Note the cheap modern stools in the background are $10.00 each

Beautiful, perhaps close to the price they went for in 1870 ? Sadly today the only thing that's hot these days is MCM.
I'll admit the furnishings that work best in our 50's ranch are MCM w/ a scattering of Japanese,Boho Chic,Ethno and such.

Saw this wardrobe today at Goodwill in Austin. Interesting shape and nice veneers, though had some missing pieces in spots. I'd guess 30's or 40's. Priced to move at $24.99.

This is such an interesting thread. The furniture prices shown here would be at least double at my GW, but I'm in a more urban area. The local trend is still heavily MCM, but people here do appreciate quality, so nicely made antique pieces like this do find homes.

So interesting to see these photos and prices. Thanks!

Goodwill of Central Texas pricing seems to have changed in the past year. They used to price a lot higher but now most stores don't have room for much furniture so they price it to sell in a day or two. Salvation Army strategy here is to price very high but then negotiate discounts and offer 50% off on Saturdays.

In my local thrift, there is no such thing as a bargain. They used the furniture to display things on so... there are scratches and nicks on them. And the prices are sky high. I only look for cookbooks there which they don't get many of anymore.

It used to be such a wonderful thrift. I bought HA Pink Elephant Drinking Glasses there when management knew they had to move items to stay fresh. What a deal I got.
I also bought NOS Pyrex Bowls in the box for $5
then the new management came in and the same drek remains in the store month after month. $5 for a used towel. I don't think so.
