Interesting! The general shape certainly matches.

If I had to guess, mine was always this shape, not expensive new, but genuinely older.

I think the ribbon was added later, but maybe it is something like what you've posted, Darkwing. Thanks.

Ex votos, of which tamata are the Greek version, are supposed to be of silver or other precious metal. After all you have to invest in your health.;)
If this is an ex-voto, maybe a poor people's version? But the woman doesn't look poor in her nice dress....

Here is a thread on ex-votos:

Nice photos Any J ! The ones I encountered for sale in all the churches in Greece several years ago were inexpensive stamped brass. The church altars are literally smothered in them, and it's a thriving high-volume trade in their gift shops. It looks like the design styles have not been updated since the 1950s or so. Here's the one I brought home, a catch-all prayer protection for my boys and their misadventures, hanging on my home altar /reliquary. It's about bookmark size. The 3rd photo is just a Google example of the older ones, rather more expensive if you're looking to collect vintage. The churches must have to clear the altars periodically, or the sheer volume would be unmanageable. I wonder where they end up. For that matter, I wonder where they are made.

    AHA indeed!:jawdrop:
Is there anything from another culture the Turkish don't copy? At least in this case the Greeks don't mind.;)
