Davey, and everyone, whatever your wishes and prayers were they seem to have worked. Diagnosis has changed from Thursday, TIA and on meds, Sunday, potential crescendo TIAs, to Monday morning symptoms still present but tests suggesting another cause, to Monday evening, MRI negative for stroke damage making diagnosis of viral infection of ear probable and further tests today, including heart echo scan which was also ok we believe.

It has been like an episode of House, with a battery of tests and a good consultant putting right a misdiagnosis.

Fingers crossed, all bloods will be ok and consultant will allow discharge tomorrow with physio and clinic support, and 24 hour ecg trace just to lay to rest an earlier clinical worry. And the medical tests have alerted us to another situation, which shouldnt require attention but is useful to know just in case

For four days it seemed a life threatening progression, now we hope for a full recovery over next 2-3 weeks.

Thank you for the update, such a relief. Viruses can be very sneaky little things, and the symptoms can mimic a lot of other conditions. Take good care of her, and of yourself, of course.

Regarding Colonel Dunne, I found the following article... the initial 'G' appears to be an 'E'. I've down some further searches but this is all I've found so far. He's still quite elusive but it should give you some other leads!
