Glad you're here, too, C-me. Read a lot of your posts on the PGP board. Did you say rocks? Lots of us like/collect/have an interest in rocks. Pix of rocks were posted on another thread the other day, but I can't remember which one!
When I run across '50s, '60s Japan ceramics at sales these days, I think it is best Left On the table
Probably a good idea - in general. But as with all things there are some specific items that still bring a good price on ebay. Just not like they did 10 or 15 years ago when there was many active collectors. Buyers seem to have evaporated these days.
I think a lot of the post war MIJ stuff has real charm, but not a lot of resale value. Of course, a lot of the stuff around here is ESD rather than Lefton, but sometimes they come down to the same thing... so far as the object itself is concerned.
If there's one thing I've learned after all these years of discussion, and finds threads, etc., you should never over-look anything. And yes, some of the post-war MIJ is cute and I think sort of like the old Staff figs. The expensive stuff might not be available to the masses, but they were able to buy something cheap and charming for the mantel. Lots of MIJ stuff make me smile.
Xmas stuff, Lefton, Napco, ESC you name it still has a ready and willing market, especially Holt Howard.
