Here's the secret to basket knowledge.....
Good books
25 years of study
Hands on , touching and sniffing and holding and eyeing of as many baskets as you can get your little paddy paws on.
A love & respect for the craft.

With all that you can't go wrong......& if sometimes you do....that's called learning too !!
The books are the key .
Google can not make up for a stack of good books, expertly written with high quality photo's.
Once you know what you're looking for ...or at , Google is a fine tool & so's eBay for research, but like Taupou suggested , you can't always trust the descriptions there so it's best to have your own knowledge going in.

Study these 3 books....& you'll think you're a freakin expert........& your collection will improve dramatically !

I looked long and hard for the two at the top of the bookcase.
They're both older and 16 & 17 inches long.
The smaller one's underneath are old pre genocide Tutsi friendship baskets.

Now get out there......& happy collecting !!!

PS....One thing I've learned over time......a broken basket will always be just that....a broken basket !
