It was a complete accident let me assure you. I paid a lot for a Tiffany cuff at the same time but under the lowest eBay price by $80 so I bargain shop. I’m glad to hear you confirm the natural stone.

Here they are more cleaned up. Sorry I was so excited about having them, I didn't do this before I posted. There is still yellow gunk around the edges but maybe this will help with the Stone identification. (That's not a chip by the way, just an optical illusion caused by the flower carving) IMG_7484.JPG IMG_7487.JPG

Cleaner. I think she was a smoker. I haven't been able to remove all the yellow along the edges, but do you still think rock crystal?

Wow. That's an incredible find you made. Those are exactly the same as mine. Carved mother of pearl then. Do you have any ideas about how to remove the remaining nicotine stains without damaging the mother of pearl?

That's okay. You did a spectacular job on finding the precise earring match. :)

Hooray! :greedy: You have such a good eye to have picked them up.

Love his things. Don't wear them often because they're so big & heavy, but they sure are fun!

Have you got an ultrasound cleaner? That would get the crud off. Or, get a cotton bud and soak it in vodka or gin, then go round the stone.

Thanks go much for this advice. No ultrasound cleaner but would you recommend getting one. I like the idea of fewer chemicals even tasty ones touching older stuff. Several baths in warm soapy water and a toothbrush only went so far.

I'm a massive fan of ulttrasound cleaners, used with care. You do need the proper solutions - I can't find the one I used to use for pearls and I'd not use it for opals or foiled rhinestones either. Things like filigree clean really well, as does much else.

Great. I’ll track one down then and buy it. These puppies are in there rock solid just yellow stains around the edges. Thank you.

You could try a peroxide and baking soda paste with a soft toothbrush,it removes nicotine stains on many materials.

Terrific. I’m off to the store right now and could pick them up. I’d have to wait to get an ultrasound machine which I still will get for the long haul.
