SO THIS ISN'T NEEDLEWORK, JUST NEEDLES......not sure what kind they are

Their size and length is mentioned on both......any sailors out there or any other members with constructive leads/thoughts if I'm way off beat, GREATLY appreciated, as ALWAYS, and THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
