Hello everyone, I saw a lot of stickpins for sale in France, and this one immediately took my attention. I didn't know what exactly it had been, but I knew I needed to own it and find out:happy:. So it arrived yesterday, and it is nice but very tiny. I had to look it up, and look what I found out: Its the middle part of old Flemish earrings! (Belgium, 1830-1870ish). It used to happen a lot that jewels were torn apart for inheritance, or maybe just because some parts went missing over time. The stickpin top is 14 carat gold with some silver 'blobs' on it, that make the suggestion of being diamonds as opposed to some more detailed diamond-enriched ones. You can see an example on how it looked originally in a picture of the book I found. I have put some of my Flemish jewels next to it to show how tiny it is. So, what would you do with it? Leave it as is, looking like an odd little stickpin? Or would you make a pendant out of it with maybe a pearl drop? Maybe even wait for the right drop that really matches its size and material? (Although that might be very hard to find?). Thank you very much for your opinions.
