Yes, it is gilded. 07A84B4C-DE4C-4484-AB58-693409EEF0A1.jpeg I can’t believe the prices. Why are they so expensive? I paid much less for mine. My little frame was originally offered online from a private seller for $65 and I contacted the seller offering $56 which they happily took. I saw the little stamps in the pictures but the seller only commented it was Italian and didn’t get into what the rest of the stamps meant on the listing.

AJ, your link says that one is from the 70’s. Mine has many similarities. Do you think it’s a safe bet to say mine could be from the 70’s as well?

Thank you everyone for your help. Unfortunately this little frame is “vintage” vs “antique” but I definitely appreciate all of the help in breaking down what’s happened to the mark and all the links to literature and other items!

I agree, there are many similarities, and it is possible yours is from the 70s as well, but I couldn't say for sure.
It is a beauty, and a good name. In this case vintage seems to sell for a very nice price.:)

I cannot remember exactly where I read that the numbers were re-assigned, but it was early in my ebay days and my general recollection was that it was somewhere on silvercollection (because I don't think I would have had much exposure to Italian silver marks info anywhere else.) I looked there thoroughly last night and have not been able to find such an assertion now, so I humbly retract the statement.

Not saying it's untrue, only that I don't recall reading it, but given that there are no date marks, it would seem a confusing practice to have the same number assigned to different makers. Will add that Giorgio's Silvercollection list only extends to 1971, so is not useful for more recently assigned numbers - and while Trev's ongoing compilation on 925-1000 can be awkward to navigate, it has many makers not found on Silvercollection, and often includes more detailed information...
