Just as a note, the Scearce 'Presidential' silver julep cups are always collectible, with the one on the link being their earliest, produced during Truman's first term. Tuttle Silver has done the same since Coolidge, the intials in a crescent...

My grandfather was born in 1887 in New York City - a time when most local transportation involved horses. He died in 1980 in Florida - where he could literally watch rockets go over his house on their way to the moon. He adjusted - you can too.:p cheers

Because I was around when a lot of today's stuff wasn't, not only can I time travel in my head, but I am more impressed by just how much effort has gone into things younger folk take for granted.

And how much has been forgotten.

Af's last post reminded me of youth.
When my daughters were fairly young and found out the house they were raised in was only 18,000.00...my middle asked me why we didn't buy several since they were so cheap back in the day, the others agreed. Ah youth!

Back in the Middle Ages, or whenever it was when I was young, my parents taugt me the value of money, and through a spanking or two I learned to revere the purchasing power of a ten bob note or a halfcrown..

Unhappily, over the years that ten bob note has turned into the equivalent of threepence, but I have not forgotten the value of money. Trouble is the value I have not forgotten is 60 years out of date.

Cheryl, I didn't see this until now. I have to admit I thought that seller spelled "Scarce" wrong! I had no idea that was a person's name. Shows how much I don't know.
