Yep that's about as much as I know about them lol. I meant just the pin part only, its got a different color, shine, and texture to the rest of it.

 

Not a pretty thing like all the jewelry but it was interesting (at least to me).

Back when I had chickens, a snake that got into the laying box and swallowed an egg whole. (snake was relocated safely to a more appropriate location).

 

Looks like that snake was hun-GRY. No, you may not eat my eggs, Mr. Snake. OTOH too bad Mama Cat didn't find him first; he'd have been kitten chow.

 

Yes, those are often just brass. It is the back, so "nobody lives there", as we say overhere.
