I have a Jerusalem cross pin/pendant & a pair of nearly matching earrings that are set with lab grown color change sapphires. Ones with a light blue stone I think are more likely to be glass or blue topaz. Blue zircon is not an inexpensive stone. Don't think Lizzie reported tester results for the cabochon in hers?

@Lizzie Did not comment on these as you already know they are artificial & the one on the right is the dratted, ubiquitous, Ponytail Girl, quite modern. The one on the left, & possibly the center one as well, may be Czech glass, & I think that would be the original setting for the left hand one.

Actually she did. She said the cab tested as glass. The coral/glass-looking one came up as garnet...??? (head, scratched)

My bad. Sounds like the tester is erring toward reading everything as harder than it is. Eilat stone would be relatively soft. It's a jumble of chrysocolla, malachite & turquoise. I can see that you might get different readings depending on just where you applied the probe.

I just have a little cheapie tester that came with a kit, & I've only played around with it a little, but do recall you can't just turn it on & start testing, you have to calibrate taking into account the ambient temperature. Maybe Lizzie's tester is being affected by the summer heat?

Just stopped in to let you know I have read everything. I will check out the Presidium later and re-test. I'll check the calibration and then with something I know is glass for a start.

@Bronwen sadly, I think all the Cameos are plastic/resin. The one on the left has a very old setting and I am in process of cleaning all the old glue residue off between the cameo and the surrounding frame.

I will be back later today with updates.

Update...I cleaned the stylus, unplugged everything and replugged, recalibrated, tested on a known glass piece and the final result is both the "coral" and "Eliat" stone are glass.

@Bronwen, the cameos are definitely plastic or resin. I've cleaned up the one on the left somewhat, got rid of the disgusting extra glue and it is obvious that the "cameo" does not fit properly in the old setting. I tried cleaning up the center one and all the tiny pearl beads fell off. I might remove them all from their settings and see if someone who makes jewelry or jewelry art wants them.

On the good news front, I have acquired a bunch of other cameos that I think some may even be real for a change. When I get a chance I will take pictures and post for sharing and opinions. Should I put them in the Cameo thread or a new thread?

Up to you, either is just fine. As long as the word 'cameo' is in the title, we'll find it, gladly have a look & render opinions. :)
