A collection of around 500 photos taken between 1895 and 1920 by my wife's great grandfather and her great uncle came to me a couple years ago because I have an interest in history. About 5 of them had something written on them. Some are of people, but most are places. I've spent quite a lot of time researching them, which has been an interesting adventure, and for many of them it was quite difficult at first.

I have most of them worked out now, with lots of help from a number of local historians and other people connected to the places. They cover NY, PA, CT, RI, AZ, CO, WY, and MT. The hardest ones to figure out were the Montana photos until I stumbled on this Park Service web page. I had that same photo! It turns out that a Park Service historian found some photos on EBAY and purchased them, including the one on that page. They were old prints of the same photos I had, although I had a bunch more in addition to those. I think my wife's great grandfather had made some additional prints and sent them to somebody back then, and many decades later they showed up on EBay. From that, the whole story of the Montana photos unfolded. In that Park Service photo, I'm pretty sure my wife's great uncle is second from the left, a young teen at the time.

The school in the photo you referenced is Westminster School in Simsbury CT. My wife's great uncle attended there between 1907 and 1909. The photos of that school had the school name written by them, so they were easy. I sent hi-res scans of the several photos I had from there to the school historian, as I thought they might like them, and he told me the info about the drama program.
