Set 6 European Blue Transferware ( Or Painted?) Plates

    Just wanted to let you know that I did look through both volumes of Coysh & Henrywood's Dictionary of Blue & White Printed Pottery. This pattern isn't shown or mentioned using the name in the above link Malayan Long House/Long Hut. There are more bucolic river scenes with buildings in the background and people on the shore than you can shake a stick at. Change the shape of the building and the style of clothing on the people and viola...a new pattern.

    The only pattern mentioned using the word "Malayan" has no pictures or description so don't know if it might be the same or not. It says:

    "Malayan Village" (new) An alternative name for a Spode chinoiserie pattern catalogued by Drakard & Holdway as Trench Mortar (qv). It is also sometimes known as Pearl River House.

    This may be true of some modern decal transfers, but it's not true for antiques.

    By the way, why the "longhouse" in the pattern name. Which one of the buildings is long house?
