One lucky thing about Saphirets, not all jewelry collectors/antique resellers know about them, which means it isn't totally impossible to find one.

And not the sort of thing you can easily look up on your phone.

So this is where a bit of outside knowledge comes in handy. In general Saphirets are on non-signed pieces, however the vintage designers Regency, Hobe, and Kramer sometimes will have them --anything from "all Saphirets" to a couple or a single Saphiret stone in a mix with multi-colored stones.

I thought I was a total genius, and one time did an Ebay search for "Regency brooch" in case I happened to spot a BIN with a Saphiret. OMG, here was a great piece --full of vintage Saphirets, no mention of "Saphiret" in the title. Bingo!

    Only it was an auction...

That darn thing probably sold for MORE than it would of if they had mentioned Saphirets. Turned out there were a number of Saphiret obsessed lurkers like me, who thought they were the only one who saw it. I put it on "watch" but clearly the cat was out of the bag because price was climbing. I think it went for $160. A normal Regency piece would have sold for a fraction of that.
