<p>
The word in the middle is Lipetsk, which is a Russian town not known as well for lacquerware as a few others, but still known lacquerware producers. From the following, it sounds like there was an artist's collective formed there "55 years ago" (but I don't know when that was written). Still, mid-20th century would be the earliest date, if this is accurate:</p><p><a href="https://therussianshop.com/russian-lacquer-boxes/lacquer-box-miniature-painting/lipetsk/" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://therussianshop.com/russian-lacquer-boxes/lacquer-box-miniature-painting/lipetsk/" rel="nofollow">https://therussianshop.com/russian-lacquer-boxes/lacquer-box-miniature-painting/lipetsk/</a></p><p><br /></p><p>And another link I just found about Lipetsk. <a href="https://sunbirds.com/texts/themes/1119" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://sunbirds.com/texts/themes/1119" rel="nofollow">https://sunbirds.com/texts/themes/1119</a></p><p><br /></p><p>The last name of the artist appears to be Merkutov. I found a couple of old sales in Worthpoint said to be signed by a Merkutov, but neither one shows a close up of the signature, and may not be the same artist. These also look different from each other, so may not be by the same person. The second one says it is from Palekh, so that would definitely not be the same as yours.</p><p><a href="https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/russian-ussr-lacquer-box-signed-425116560" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/russian-ussr-lacquer-box-signed-425116560" rel="nofollow">https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/russian-ussr-lacquer-box-signed-425116560</a></p><p><br /></p><p><a href="https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/collectible-russian-lacquer-miniature-palekh-box" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/collectible-russian-lacquer-miniature-palekh-box" rel="nofollow">https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/collectible-russian-lacquer-miniature-palekh-box</a>
</p><p><br /></p>
