Roseville repro?

    To my mind, fakes are items made to deceive, while reproductions are made to look like something from the past but are acknowledged to be new.

    Terry, I've been a bead collector since around 1970, and at one time had a good-sized collection of new Venetian glass beads. I agree that there are contemporary or newer vintage Venetian beads being sold on eBay as antique African trade beads. Bugs me every time I see it!

    There are legitimate antique African trade beads being sold, though, and I've sold some in the past, too. But I've very suspicious of some listings because the color or wear pattern doesn't look right.

    Roseville is not my thing. (Doesn't go with the Spode, y'know.) But even I can spot that blatant a fake.

    that website is really no more that one person's opinion. Tho' it is true that expired patents and trademarks may be copied without legal restriction, it may also be rightfully considered a fake or counterfeit; especially if one's specific intent is to defraud buyers to think that an item may an original.
