    Hi all, just for your interest, my local antiques dealer acid tested this casket and it reacted as non-silver although he had been quite sure it was silver. As a result of the test he decided it must be polished pewter which looks like, and is soft like, silver - the thin metal is quite pliable.

    I recently bought a little trinket box that I swore was silver but its pewter . I usually loathe pewter but this box does look more like silver so it can stay. Its still a lovely box you have ,enjoy it.
