The edges are case-hardened, if I'm not mistaken. </p><p><br /></p><p>The Akinakes has lead and iron mixed into the blade as well.. If anything was forged it was the blade alone. The hilt is a separate piece and clearly cast. After much back and forward I believe we are friends now. Don't let me put words in his mouth lol. He did call me friend though. We have been talking almost daily for a month or so now. Mainly about sword fighting techniques. He gave me good input. Guided me to do a acetone test, hot pin test. A few others. He cant be sure on fake or not. He thinks the patina looks fake. Even though I have a microscope and a digital camera attachment for it, the camera does not capture depth... He said he cannot be sure until he was hands on with them.
