Anyone who repairs jewellery needs one really.
Before I got mine I used to send tiny stones flying through the air while trying to get a grip on them. Yes, I'm clumsy.

 

They’re called setting tools or setting sticks here, I think, I’ve got one. Bought it decades ago with a little wax pad thingie.

I’ll fish my clips out, nag me if I forget.

 

I nab single dress clips if they're pretty. Used to resell the pairs. The vast majority are costume, but you never know. Too bad someone snapped the back off of the OP's; I'd make a necklace out of it too.

I bought mine on ebay years ago. They sold various sizes marcasites in those small flat plastic boxes. I don't remember who the seller was, and I can't access my old account to check.
(I opened a new account after all the headache ebay employees gave me over closing/not accessing the old one)
