[QUOTE="Ladybranch, post: 184226, member: 44"]Don't believe either of these men are in the category of notable. Back when, it was very very common for people (both men and women) to get their picture taken just before getting married or about to go off to war. Some men may think going off to war and getting married are one and the same. Also many immigrants had their pics taken to send to their families back in the old country to prove they landed safe and sound. Literally thousands of tintypes are out there of the so called common man or woman.

I think it is his shirt sleeve cuff.

With the horrible fit makes me think possibly an immigrant? With the horrible fit makes me think possibly an immigrant? He seems to be posed in an upholstered chair that is probably in an actual photography studio. The 1st man is a bit more put together and composed. The background in the 1st pic seems to have a log house or barn on the left. with trees behind him. This pic may have been taken by a itinerant photographer at the man's farm or whatever. I doubt a photography studio would use a log building as a backdrop.
