From Tardy on gold, the Italian pages, the official assay marks. Most manufacturers don't bother to get their jewellery assayed, so you rarely see them, but these are the legal gold finenesses. Just below the marks it says that .925 gold fineness is also accepted.

@aaroncab You find the most interesting things at thrift shops! (As do some other members here.) I don't have the gift for that!

Thanks Figtree ...ive been on a good run lately with the stores around here. The key for me is hitting a lot of them...often. I don't spend a lot of time in each one but I do cruise through quite a few to look for things that catch my eye. And you're right some other members have scored some really great things out of thrift shops lately.

Maybe I should start going more often... I have not found many good thrift shops here but I don't even go to Goodwill, so I really haven't explored. There is a St. Vincent De Paul thrift shop near here that is dismal! I have almost never found anything there. But also I don't go very often.

One benefit of going frequently is that it would be easy to tell after a while which things are newly received -- right?

Exactly...once I'm familiar with the baseline junk inventory I can pretty much scan through pretty quickly to see anything new. Truth is 80 to 90% of the times that i go into any one of the stores I dont find anything interesting or valuable.
