Board members were very helpful to me recently identifying a piece of embroidered linen that turned out to be a macassar, something I'd not even heard of before. I'm now hoping someone might be kind enough to provide me with a bit of information about another piece of linen I have, that I'd like to understand better. As you'll see in the pics, it's a piece of linen, measuring 33" by 48", with edges that have been folded over and stitched, and a scene in the center of two ladies reading under a tree, one with a baby in a cradle, that appears to have been printed, painted and embroidered. I presume this is a tablecloth? From the style of the artwork I'm guessing it dates to the 1920's or 1930's; would you agree? Finally, would this have been sold as a craft project, a pre-printed linen that the buyer would finish by adding embroidering and, possible, paint as well? That's what it looks like to me. Thanks!
