Thanks Pat P....will do my best to remember "loop shank"!!! :wacky:
Edit: Lisa...you will notice MANY prices from $16.99 to about $26.00 for essentially (in some cases IDENTICAL!) microscopes!

Yes, I have noticed. I don't do well with so many choices. Just gives me more to research; which I really don't want to do right now. Hahaha! But I'm going to make a decision on one tonight and order it; Amazon Prime ;-)

Heh, amazing what a good close-up can show - the star that I saw in the original shots doesn't seem to be present at all in the new pic...

Contact Page Button Auctions Homosassa FL, they will know. I've been going to their button auctions held at The Plantation Inn, in Crystal River FL, for the several years.

I've had a Celestron microscope for a few years now. I was AMAZED at it's capabilities when I first got it. SUPER easy to get it going too. In the 20s price wise.
These things are WELL worth the investment.

Don, if you have time, would you mind posting what model you have?

    Hi all,
I just wanted to follow up with what I have found out so far from the two sources that I have contacted! Peter Shemonsky from the AR (jewelry appraiser of this vintage thing) suggested:

"You are correct in that the piece is of Austro- Hungarian origin and bears the hallmark used on small silver articles that were made between 1867-1872.
I have seen a number of these that were made for ceremonial military uniforms, but this one seem to have been intended more for a woman's outfit. These could have been buttons to hold a cape or cloak.
To a button collector, I would think it would be worth between $75-$100.00
    "

And from the other source that HamptonAuction suggested (Which REALLY got me excited!!!): "Please take the button in your hands, and gently try to unscrew it at the base. If it does open, you would have a smugglers button. Let us know what happens!"

So, I tried, as instructed, but so far, no luck!!! Yes the base turns, but so does the top with it.....so to date I don't know any further.....there's not much space to grasp at the top and I don't want to damage it.....much too pretty.......have to admit would be fun to find a few precious stones inside!!!!

    Pat...It's a Celestron 10x-150x. No model #.
It's a few years old now. I see the newer ones have a couple of nat useable features mine doesn't. A dimmable specimen light for one. I like the idea of that.
The one Messi posted is remarkably close to mine in appearance.

"$75-$100" is very conservative quote. I think it would sell for way more.

Thanks trip, my own mindset was thinking the exact same thing, but I'm also not planning on selling either!!! I've seen that AR Jewelry dealer appraise some things pretty high too!!!! Whatever! Now, I shall go check out your store!!!!

Hey trip....you wouldn't believe how many of those glass mercury Bird German Clip On Christmas Tree decos I gave away!!!!!!! But the nice thing was I gave them to a new Niece-in-law who had no decorations, so it was a happy thing for me to pass them on and she absolutely LOVES them!!!!
