    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

What a variety... thank you. I do think mine has lovely faces, and the hands, though savagely damaged, are well-done. We artists knows how hard hands are!!!!!

The aging gives it character. I'd give it a place of honor in my home.

As a result of the enlightenment you all have provided me today, I promise that I will. And I'll post a picture after he settles in someplace.

    Don't take it's story away.

Let it's history shine through.I think it's...distressed to a tee.

Thank you, that means a lot to me, from you. I'm so amazed and grateful for every single reply here. I doubt I would even have taken it, had it not been for my last few months here.

    Hi Gila,
Now that I have seen him up close, he is beautiful. Mold Jesus a new arm and give Tony at least one lily, you could also paint a new rosary over the marks of the old. Make it faint like the rest of him.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Thanks, Greggsie... I'm not sure I'm confident of my abilities. I want to, but at this point I'm afraid. But not scared to get him a lily or two or three... what would be right? Something wooden, I suppose? It looks as if something mounted on a tiny dowel would sit easily there.

I think you should leave this statue in its current condition and do nothing to it.

Thanks, Antidiem... every time I start thinking about doing something to it, I break out in a cold sweat! That's probably a sign, si? Si!

So glad you found him, and rescued him. As someone who has 7 antique Saint Anthony santos on my dresser, several missing bits and pieces, I'd say leave him exactly as found. It's part of his history. Nothing wrong with giving him little "gifts" to hold, though, that don't permanently change him in any way. A bunch of lilies would be perfect.

He's in charge of finding lost items, and people, you know.

    Lovely piece and history.
You should write what you remember about your uncle and how he brought it back from the war, put it in an envelop with a picture of him and tuck it inside the back of St Anthony.
    Your grandchildren will thank you.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Thank you, Cx... you warm my heart.

Taupou... I was hoping you'd stop by and see him. YEAH, a lightweight little lily, or bouquet, something to hold... my Mexican spirit-world-view tells me he would be given some life from that. I'll start looking for the right thing.
