I might try to remove the patch, but I don't want to damage the jacket. And I don't want to be wearing one with someone else's name on it.

Would it offend you if you saw someone, who is clearly not in the military, wearing a jacket with a US Army patch on it? I figure it's older than I am, so it's not like I'm wearing recently issued BDUs.

I suppose it is kinda ok without any other insignia.

You could just take that loose and look under it if you are curious.

Barn Owl, I am impressed by your sensitivity to someone possibly being offended by someone wearing a military item if that person is not in the military (and possibly has never been in the military).

You seem to be a "thinking" and thoughtful young man. Congratulations on having those traits, and congratulations to the people who "raised you" to follow that path in your thinking and actions. ;)

Thank you, Your Turn! :) That means a lot to me. I just don't want to offend veterans or people who have family in the military by wearing a jacket that I did not earn.

    And SO great that! :)
I'm sure you can find something about uniform etiquette online. :)

My fleece jacket has the Coast Guard logo on it. If anyone asks, I tell 'em I'm giving the Coasties free advertising.(LOL)

I ended up removing the patch. :) It left some needle marks, but I hope that once I figure out how to wash the jacket, they'll become less obvious. It's pretty woolly, so it's not as noticeable as it would be if the jacket was made of cotton. I'll probably remove the knit patch, too, once I buy a seam ripper.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

My recommendations are that if it's got wool in it do NOT put in a dryer or it will fit a Teeny kidling!!!!!!! Be careful with seam rippers too.....easy to cut the fabric if you get too aggressive!!!!!
