Sorry, komokwa, for this aside about a different type of rug. I agree yours looks older than the similar ones you and I found; if you look on a map you'll see Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan are all close and bordering each other so all in the same ballpark. I don't know enough to try to pin down exactly where a particular carpet was made, and I think most rug dealers don't either - they are mainly trying to identify the traditional pattern designs that the rugs were made with. Unfortunately by the late 20th century you could find Persian style rugs being made in India and China, etc. and visa versa so the more time that passes the harder that is to do.

No, these were in good shape when I got them and I never took them to be cleaned. They are heavy and dense with close knots and thick pile, more so than the other oriental rugs I find. I will sometimes wash a rug in my bathtub with gentle carpet detergent if it isn't too large then take outside to dry, but these Sarouk type are artificial (not natural) dyes and cleaning them in my bathtub (which I do with some rugs) would make me nervous. I instead take them outside and beat with a rug beater. (This was a traditional way to clean rugs - you might occasionally run into a rug-beater at an old estate or auction). Seven by ten is pretty big and harder to find in good condition; the ones I have are smaller but the designs are just scaled up or down. In case you're curious, below are pics of the two I got from my grandmother (taken inside), and then two others I've run across recently that I am trying to give to my daughter (taken outside):
