When looked at from the front, the Steiff's front shoulders stand out from his sides rather than being straight underneath his body. He has "ankles" with round, well defined feet. His name tag is affixed to his collar and wouldn't have been attached to his chest with red thread. His ears would not have been sewn to his head, but he would have an ear tag (or a hole if it had been removed). While yours is missing a lot of his mohair, I would still expect to see some of his airbrushing.
