Old side table ? , Stool?,...just how old ???..& from Where ?

That could be.......

 

Looks like Oak or Oregon and does seem to have some age. A little to low for a bedside table or maybe the legs were shortened at some stage. It has character and I'd hang onto it if I were you.

 

Bump for @James Conrad .....just cuz I'd like fresh eyes on this.....& I was never happy with thinking it was cobbled together , without it being very old...

 

Yeah, dunno, wayyyyyy outa my field of knowledge but the thru-tenon joinery reminds me of mission style a bit. I'd guess 20th century but really have no clue but, it does appear made by hand.

 

Now, 9 months later, my thoughts have not changed. Wood really looks like pine to me.

Yeah, I'd say that is probably correct, it's not old, now that i have read entire thread & looked at photo's again, can't be with those modern wire nails.

You mean those shiny wire nails....they're just re-enforcements for the rusty iron nails that have caused the wood to pucker with black rings around them...
