    Thank you morgen.
Well I bit the bullet and contacted Christies in Europe. We shall see what happens.

I sold an item through a European auction house, and I think they burned me.

In the mean time while I am waiting for Christies to get back to me I might just list on the bay with a high BIN with best offer and see what I get.

I agree, the right B&M auction would be better, especially if they have some sort of international presence.

Be aware that sometimes major auction houses will not accept lots if they've been offered on eBay (or other online DIY venues) in the near past.

Well it seems Christies doesn't want it anyway. Just received my quickest decline email from them. took less than ten hours. Clars wants to sell it but I am thinking about their international visibility. And the initial estimate seems a little low..

Bonham/Butterfield is worlds better than Clars for selling a painting like this...if they want it.

It's a nice painting, I lilke it a lot and I'm not a big art person......well I am, but it's mostly BAD ART! LOL. Anyway Congrqats on the find.
In Looking closer at the second link Terry Gave, I clicked on the link to see all 10 lots. Only 4 sold, and they ranged fron $829 to $1186... with the biggest sale being $3593 for a 25 x 32 painting. So the clars estimate might not be too bad afterall. 6 didn't sell or show no result at least. I do like your subject and the colors in yours. Auction hoouses generally estimate on the lowere end too. That way bidders don't get scared and consigners often get pleasant surprises.

    Thank you for checking Bdigger.
I trust Clars because I have used them before, But I have sent Bonham/Butterfield an email also. so i will see what they are saying. They have people here in Sacramento that can look at the painting and take it directly to the auction house for me I guess?
Clars estimate that may change when they see it in person was 500-700 which means a starting bid of 250. So it may only get one bid and ill have to sell it for that. But then again it may even go higher than the original estimate.
Man what a crap shoot lol...
