Too wild ! Ive said many times Thank God they didn't have cell phone cameras in my wild and misspent youth ! Id be an internet star,for ALL the wrong reasons ! Lord how I loved me a disco!

I was a disco nut for too many years. Literally it was 6 nights a week at least. I was at a lot of them straight and gay. The really all time favorite was 12 West down in the Village. Even Monday nights it was packed. No cell phone cameras but my hospital beeper was bad enough. I could never hear it so it had to go where I could feel the vibrations, need I say more.

Greg,how did you fit a beeper there ? My pants were always skin tight ! LOL! I couldn't have slid a quarter in my pocket! The Limelight in Atlanta was a personal favorite,picture dozens of people doing a snake dance shedding clothes as they wound around the whole bar ! It was talked about for years afterwards ! I never did find my shirt ! Thank God I was thin. Sorry Op,didnt mean to hijack the thread !

With me it was jeans and sweating off 5 to 10 lbs a night was nothing. My beeper was only a "beep" and vibrate , you had to call to get your message it was only as big as a Bic lighter.

Ach! 12 West - we MUST have "danced into" each other more than once...........were you there the night Bianca Jager took "relays" of us out to the limo to, um, indulge in the "candy" of choice? My wife was a sub DJ at 54, 12 West, Palladium, the Garage, the Loft and a few other places on occasion so I knew those places well...............

Missed the Bianca caper but was thrown over the shoulder and legs of Grace Jones using me like her phython standin.. I was 6' 140 lbs salt and pepper hair and green eyed.

Grace ! " Im not perfect,but Im perfect for YOU" ! I can close my eyes and see myself,cocktail in one hand and poppers in the other,skin tight Calvins and a Christian Dior chemise (don't you know) the roach clips with feathers hanging from my hair,dripping sweat and dancing for hours. Ah,glorious misspent youth ! When I talk about the glory days with my nieces and nephews (much edited,of course) I always point out that it seemed hedonistic,but it was oddly innocent as well.

 

OK, who else besides me wants to see photos of Greg and Johnny in their disco duds?

As to pictures, Johnny has me beat with all the finery. I was always in either jeans or cutoff jeans, contruction boots and white or black "wife beater" under shirts. The other outfits were of course one of my four tuxs. Most of the time they were juice bars but I loved my "Auntie Ethyl"
especially when not on call. At 54 it was gin and tonic goodness knows I did not want to catch Malaria.

I WISH I had some ! But you have to remember,this was long before the days of everyone capturing every moment for posterity ! That and literally a 1000 moves pretty much ensured I only have like 2 pics of my youth. I was big on vests Greg,the flashier the better,so I always haunted tuxedo shops for them. I had a red brocade one with gold flowers embroidered on it that I wore to shreds ! I'll see if I can dig up what I do have and post them,though it will make me wistful as Im long past being that skinny .
