Featured Odd oil painting, Eastern European?

    It hadn't occurred to me that the painting is new but the scene is old, therefore it is either a pure fantasy, perhaps with details of the houses from some old depiction, or there is an actual painting that it is being copied. Maybe it is even a depiction of some old folk tale of a group adrift on the river. I notice that the old print shows a raft but there are posts on either side to allow oars or paddles to steer it, the one in my painting has nothing useful like that, and wouldn't really be much good in real life without some kind of oar, and even then not very manoeuvrable, so possibly just in the mind of the painter. There must exist some old prints of the buildings on the cliff, showing the toilet projections now missing from photos.
