    Hi,
Poison ivy has no affect on me either. I yank it out of the ground and bag it up. I just remember to wash my hands with COLD water and soap. I always thought it was strange that I was allergic to wasp stings but not poison ivy. I always remind people to wash with COLD water and not warm or hot, it seems to help people get lighter contact dermatitis. The HOT water seems to spread and worsen the attack.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Hot water would expand pores so they would be more exposed, more deeply, I guess.

And here is a really scary poison ivy reaction.

Don't be around the smoke coming from someone burning-off an area containing poison ivy. The smoke from the fire contains the irritants from the poison ivy which can travel to the lungs and set up a "poison-ivy" reaction in the lungs which can be serious.

Sorry folks, I had a moment when I hastily edited some of my posts and changed my Avatar as it occurred to me that even old Ivory offends some people so I hope I didn't.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome everyone.

I seriously doubt anyone here would react that way. Surely the vast majority would not.
However...it is 2016 and one billionth of 1% decides what others should do.....and think. :p

Lizzie All you need is love ...and a dog.

This exact thing happened to my Dad. It took a long time for him to get over the problems in his lungs. I don't think I am allergic to it but I have never consciously tested it. My grandfather, however, was so allergic that if drove with his arm out the window of the car past poison ivy patches along the roadside, he would break out with the blisters and rash. He ultimately began to wear long sleeve shirts in the summer.

And by the way, welcome PoisonIvy. This is great place with wonderfully knowledgeable people who graciously share their information, research skills and opinions. Oh, and their jokes.
